With the refreshing autumn breeze and a season of abundant harvest, the Beijing Municipal Health Commission organized a visit to the 2026 China International Fair for Trade in Services (CIFTIS) on September 11, enabling retired officials to experience firsthand the latest developments and innovative vitality in the health and healthcare sector. Nearly 70 representatives of retired officials from various organizations under the Commission visited the Health and Hygiene Services exhibition at Shougang Park. The event was jointly organized by the Commission's Division of Retired Officials and Division of International Cooperation, with the aim of updating their understanding of health and wellness, experiencing the development of the times, and gaining insights into the emerging smart healthcare ecosystem from the perspective of the older generation.

At the Public Exhibition Area for Achievements in High-Quality Development, the retired officials learned about the strategic positioning and latest achievements of national medical pilot-scale testing platforms and experienced firsthand the applications of AI-enabled healthcare services covering the entire health cycle. Many of the retired officials stepped aboard AI mobile medical vehicles, where they experienced a range of AI-powered medical services, including fundus screening, electrocardiogram monitoring, ultrasound diagnosis, pediatric consultations and DR intelligent agents. These applications gave them a firsthand look at smart mobile healthcare, where medical services can reach people wherever the vehicles go. They expressed admiration for and strong expectations about the role of technological innovation in strengthening primary healthcare and protecting public health. At the Traditional Chinese Medicine Exhibition Area, the retired officials explored the exhibits and took part in interactive activities such as identifying medicinal herbs. They learned about the distinctive advantages of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) in health management throughout the life cycle, as well as innovative developments including large language models for TCM, TCM constitution assessment systems and massage robots. The visit offered them a close look at cutting-edge efforts to integrate smart technologies into TCM diagnosis, treatment and services, as well as the digital transformation and upgrading of traditional Chinese medicine.

At the conclusion of the visit, the retired officials expressed their excitement at the rapid development and application of AI in healthcare and the digital transformation of TCM. They agreed that the event had been thoughtfully organized and well planned, broadening their horizons and providing valuable inspiration. The visit allowed them to experience firsthand the vitality of new quality productive forces in healthcare and the tangible benefits that technological innovation can bring to people's well-being, further strengthening their confidence in future development. The retired officials said they would continue to keep the broader interests of the sector in mind, make full use of their experience and expertise, and offer advice and suggestions. Through concrete actions, they will continue to support relevant initiatives and contribute their knowledge and experience to the high-quality development of Beijing's health and healthcare sector.
