Beijing Municipal Health Commission Holds an Intergenerational Symposium on “Studying Ideas, Witnessing Change and Contributing to Development”

On the afternoon of August 4, the Beijing Municipal Health Commission held an intergenerational symposium on “Studying Ideas, Witnessing Change and Contributing to Development” at the Xiaoguan Branch of the Municipal Retired Officials Activity Center. Representatives of Party members from three generations—senior, middle-aged and young—gathered together to exchange ideas, carry forward the original aspiration, and build consensus and strength through dialogue. Zhang Xiaokai, a first-level inspector of the Beijing Municipal Health Commission, attended the meeting and delivered remarks. Representatives of Party branch secretaries from the “Six Good” model Party branches for retired officials at Beijing ChaoYang Hospital, Beijing Anzhen Hospital, Beijing Children’s Hospital, Beijing You’an Hospital and Beijing Geriatric Medical Center, as well as representatives from the Party branch of the Emergency Department and the Youth League Committee of Beijing Jishuitan Hospital and staff members responsible for retired personnel affairs from various organizations, attended the meeting, totaling nearly 20 participants.

Learning Together and Witnessing New Progress. At the symposium, invited senior Party members shared their experiences and reflections on studying Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era. Looking back on their years of dedication on the front lines, they spoke about the tangible changes and development they have witnessed around them. One senior Party member remarked that processes that once required repeated manual checks can now be completed with just a few taps on a screen, while complicated surgical procedures have become more precise with the assistance of intelligent medical equipment. These changes have not only improved the efficiency of medical services but have also enabled patients to experience the warmth brought by technological advances. Young and middle-aged Party members listened attentively to the experiences of their predecessors and shared their thoughts on giving full play to the role of Party branches as bastions of leadership, promoting the deep integration of Party building with healthcare services, enhancing the capacity to treat critically ill and seriously injured patients, and organizing activities that bring together senior and younger generations. The vivid cases shared at the meeting demonstrated the participants’ deep understanding of the guiding role of thought, their sincere appreciation of the development of the healthcare sector, and their unwavering commitment to safeguarding the health of the people.

Senior Citizens Contributing Wisdom and Experience. Remaining true to their original aspiration and deeply committed to the development of healthcare services, grounding themselves in the responsibility and mission of putting people's health at the center, senior Party members actively offered suggestions and shared their insights on key priorities, including the strategic tasks of the 15th Five-Year Plan period, the development of model “Six Good” Party branches, volunteer services by senior citizens, strengthening the grassroots healthcare network, and providing health services throughout the life cycle. The senior Party members noted that young and middle-aged colleagues are the key force in ensuring the continued development of Beijing’s health and healthcare sector. As long as their health permits, senior colleagues should continue to support younger colleagues in developing their capabilities and carrying forward the sector’s fine traditions and work ethic. Young and middle-aged Party members expressed their appreciation for the trust and support of their predecessors. They said they would continue to strengthen Party branch development, provide more compassionate emergency medical services, actively contribute their energy and expertise as young professionals, and embark on a new journey with a strong sense of responsibility and commitment.

Passing on the Torch and Advancing Together. At the meeting, Zhang Xiaokai expressed his sincere appreciation to the senior Party members for their continued dedication and willingness to contribute, and spoke highly of the young and middle-aged Party members for pursuing their work with a correct approach to performance and striving to deliver tangible benefits to the people. He noted that the activities under the theme “Senior and Younger Generations Working Together at Xiaoguan” and “Studying Ideas, Witnessing Change and Contributing to Development” are intended to build a platform for intergenerational exchange, enabling senior colleagues to pass on their experience and values to younger colleagues while encouraging younger generations to bring new perspectives and momentum to development. The goal is to transform the collective wisdom and experience of three generations into practical measures that will contribute to the implementation of the 15th Five-Year Plan. He called on senior as well as young and middle-aged Party members to continue studying and understanding Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era in depth, strengthen Party building and remain true to their original aspiration and principles, stay committed to putting the people first and upholding integrity and discipline, and work together to promote the high-quality development of Beijing’s health and healthcare sector.

Following the symposium, all Party members visited the exhibition “Spirit Shining Bright: An Exhibition on the Spiritual Genealogy of Chinese Communists.” They gained a deeper understanding of the historical background, spiritual significance and inspiring stories behind the great spirit of the Chinese Communists. Drawing strength from the enduring legacy of these spirits, participants further leveraged the symposium as a platform for pooling wisdom and building consensus, and set out on a new journey with dedication and concrete action.
