To firmly establish and put into practice a correct view of political achievements and to steadily advance the “Health Protection, Sunset Glow” Silver-Age Free Medical Consultation Initiative, on the occasion of the upcoming 105th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China, on the afternoon of June 11, the Division of Retired Personnel of the Beijing Municipal Health Commission, together with the Population and Family Division, joined Party branches from Beijing Shijitan Hospital, Beijing Friendship Hospital, Beijing Anzhen Hospital, Beijing You’an Hospital, and other institutions to organize retired senior medical experts, in-service Party members, and Youth League members to visit the Fengtai Locomotive Depot. They carried out a themed Party Day activity integrating red education and research with free medical services for the public. Through the joint service efforts of three generations—senior, middle-aged, and young Party members—they promoted the inheritance of revolutionary spirit and put into practice the Party’s original aspiration of serving the people.

At the “Mao Zedong Locomotive” Square and themed exhibition hall of the Fengtai Locomotive Depot, all participants carefully observed historical exhibits, studied archival materials, and listened to inspiring stories of generations of locomotive drivers who overcame difficulties and forged ahead with determination. They gained an in-depth understanding of the “Mao Zedong Locomotive Spirit,” characterized by dedication to the motherland, loyalty to duty, perseverance through hardship, and a commitment to remaining at the forefront. From supporting frontline transportation during wartime to ensuring the smooth operation of the nation’s economic lifeline in the new era, more than seventy years of legacy and dedication deeply impressed the senior experts and young Party members present. Drawing on their own professional experiences, the retired experts shared their reflections, emphasizing the importance of carrying forward the spirit of pioneers, regarding practical service to the people as a key measure of achievements, and transforming the spirit of hard work into concrete actions that continue to benefit society and serve the public.

The revolutionary spirit inspires the soul, while health services warm the hearts of the people. Following the educational visit, the team of senior experts immediately proceeded to the service site to launch the “Health Protection, Sunset Glow” Silver-Age Free Medical Consultation Initiative. This event fully leveraged the professional expertise of both senior and younger participants, bringing together specialists in traditional Chinese medicine, neurology, cardiology, respiratory medicine, gastroenterology, and other disciplines to provide frontline workers with comprehensive health services, including blood pressure and blood glucose testing, guidance on medication for chronic diseases, recommendations for the diagnosis and treatment of common illnesses, and interpretation of medical examination reports. In response to personalized health concerns raised by employees, the senior experts conducted consultations with patience and care, offering tailored health recommendations based on the characteristics of their work and using their medical expertise to safeguard the health of frontline workers. Young pharmacist members of the Communist Youth League applied their professional knowledge by preparing traditional Chinese medicinal herbal teas, such as “Happy Tea” and “Vitality Tea,” while also promoting knowledge of traditional Chinese medicine and wellness practices, bringing TCM services directly to the production frontline. Senior experts provided professional oversight, in-service Party members coordinated logistical support, and Youth League members actively took responsibility. Through close cooperation and effective teamwork among the three generations, silver-age wisdom, backbone strength, and youthful vitality were deeply integrated, creating a distinctive example of Party-building service in action.

This themed Party Day activity adopted a model combining “red education and research + health services for the people,” closely integrating Party spirit education, the inheritance of revolutionary values, and public service. It transformed the pioneering spirit embodied by the “Mao Zedong Locomotive” from historical exhibits in the exhibition hall into warm and caring services delivered at consultation desks, achieving the integration of learning, reflection, and application, as well as the unity of knowledge, conviction, and action. Moving forward, the Beijing Municipal Health Commission will continue to leverage the expertise of senior specialists, enrich platforms for Party-building practice, further unleash the strength of the silver generation, and deliver tangible results through diligent work in celebration of the 105th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China.
