Beijing Municipal Health Commission Holds 2026 Lecture Program for Retired Cadres

With spring in full bloom and renewed vitality everywhere, the Beijing Municipal Health Commission held the 2026 Lecture Program for Retired Cadres of the Commission system from April 29 to 30. The program aimed to thoroughly study and implement General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important statements on establishing and practicing a correct view of political performance, strengthen the daily education, supervision, and management of retired cadres, organize retired cadre Party members to participate in the learning and education on establishing and practicing a correct view of political achievements, enrich the cultural and spiritual lives of senior comrades, and promote their physical and mental well-being. More than 80 representatives of retired cadres and staff members from across the system participated in the training.

Firm in original aspiration and steadfast in faith, true political achievement comes from integrity and practical results. Centered on the theme of establishing and practicing a correct view of political performance, the program reviewed the Commission’s major accomplishments over the previous year and outlined key tasks for the current year. It also conveyed arrangements for organizing retired Party-member cadres to participate in educational activities on this topic. During the training, experts and professors from Capital Normal University and the Beijing Municipal Party History Research Office were invited to provide systematic interpretations and historical analysis. Special lectures focused on topics such as Establishing and Practicing a Correct View of Political Performance and The Revolutionary Practice at Peking University Red Building and the Correct View of Political Performance. These sessions guided retired Party-member cadres to deeply reflect on the fundamental questions of “For whom should political achievements be made?”, “What kind of achievements should be pursued?”, and “How should such achievements be accomplished?” The lecture program also invited professors from Peking Union Medical College and the Party School of the Daxing District Committee to share insights into the century-long history of public health in the capital and the spirit of the Long March. Through professional perspectives and rich historical context, participants revisited the extraordinary years of struggle, appreciated the contemporary significance of the Long March spirit, and strengthened the collective determination to serve public health for the people.

To understand what is straight, one must rely on standards; to understand what is square or round, one must rely on rules. The training fully utilized the role of “mini discipline classrooms,” combining positive guidance with cautionary education. Before classes, participants watched micro-documentaries from the Commission system’s “With Utmost Sincerity, Devoted to Life” series featuring senior Party members and experts. During breaks, five short educational videos on discipline and regulations for retired cadres, including What Cannot Be Done After Leaving One’s Post, were shown. In the evenings, participants watched the television documentary Never Stop Advancing, Never Retreat Even Half a Step. Through the inspiring power of role models, the program promoted integrity and professional ethics, while typical cases served as warnings to strengthen discipline awareness. By presenting both positive and negative examples, the training helped retired comrades uphold their original aspirations, understand boundaries, reinforce self-discipline, and remain constantly mindful of integrity and ethical conduct.

Though advanced in years, retired comrades continue to shine and pass on the torch to future generations. The lecture program featured clear themes and carefully designed modules including special reports, video teaching, and briefings. The curriculum progressed systematically from theoretical foundations to grassroots practice, integrating education on the correct view of political performance throughout the entire training process. It guided participants to strengthen Party spirit and build consensus through immersive learning experiences. The retired comrades unanimously expressed that they would fully play the principal role of retired cadres’ Party branches, carefully organize participation in educational activities, identify gaps and root causes through the lens of Party spirit cultivation, and continuously strengthen self-improvement. At the same time, they pledged to combine learning with practice, actively leverage their experience and expertise, offer suggestions and volunteer services, remain steadfast in their ideals and beliefs, carry forward fine traditions, spread positive energy, and contribute the strength and wisdom of senior generations to strengthening the healthcare foundation project and advancing the development of the capital in the new era.
