To celebrate the 116th International Women’s Day, enrich the cultural lives of female employees, and convey the care and warmth of trade union organizations, Beijing Municipal Health Commission Trade Union, in coordination with various unions within its system, is simultaneously organizing a diverse range of distinctive and content-rich celebratory activities. These thoughtfully designed events formed a festive “package” of care, showcasing the unique charm and vitality of women working in the health sector.

The Commission’s labor union organized outstanding female employees from across the system to visit Sheyu Theater and watch the Beijing Quju Opera “Beijing Auction House.” The play weaves together classic works by Lao She, featuring rich Beijing-style language and innovative presentation. Through this immersive experience, female employees were able to appreciate the charm of China’s fine traditional culture while relieving work-related stress. The event also officially marked the launch of a series of themed celebrations for International Women’s Day organized by labor unions across the system. Labor unions of municipal hospitals and affiliated institutions, responding to employees’ needs, carried out a variety of innovative activities across multiple dimensions, including health care, interactive experiences, intangible cultural heritage, creative handicrafts, and leisure activities. These initiatives ensured that holiday care was delivered precisely and flourished in diverse forms.

Health-focused activities were tailored to meet the physical and psychological needs of female employees. Many institutions organized health education sessions on topics such as cervical and lumbar spine rehabilitation and sports injury prevention. Beijing Friendship Hospital and Beijing Geriatric Hospital launched online quiz activities to deepen knowledge and understanding, providing comprehensive support for both the well-being and legal rights of female staff.

Interactive activities created an immersive and joyful atmosphere. Beijing Shijitan Hospital hosted a themed garden party titled “Blooming Elegance,” featuring zones for stress relief, personal image enhancement, and handicraft making. Beijing Children’s Hospital set up sports and craft areas, offering activities such as wellness yoga and knitted handbag making, bringing festive joy into the workplace. Intangible cultural heritage activities showcased the beauty of traditional aesthetics. Cloisonné craftsmanship was especially popular across many institutions, alongside traditional flower arrangement and preserved flower crafting. Activities such as incense plaque making, DIY decorative fans, and essential oil blending were also well received, allowing participants to experience the unique charm of Chinese traditional culture through hands-on creation.

Creative and leisure activities were diverse and engaging. The Capital Institute of Pediatrics and Beijing Jishuitan Hospital organized DIY blind box and succulent plant crafting sessions. Some institutions also arranged immersive rural-style experiences such as curing meats and pickling vegetables, enabling female employees to relax and enjoy a sense of fulfillment through varied activities.

This series of International Women’s Day events across the system began with the cultural program organized by the Commission’s labor union and extended through the diverse activities of unions at all levels. The program provided not only cultural enrichment but also targeted physical and mental care, along with warm and thoughtful leisure experiences, fully demonstrating the unions’ attentive support for female employees. Female staff members expressed that they would transform the joy and inspiration from the celebrations into motivation for their work, dedicating themselves to the capital’s public health industry with greater enthusiasm and confidence. With their strength and contributions, they will continue to shine in their roles and make even greater contributions to safeguarding the health of the public.
