As the year turns and a new chapter begins, the Beijing Municipal Health Commission held a briefing and symposium for retired officials on the afternoon of January 4, 2026. Party Secretary Zhong Dongbo met with representatives of retired officials to exchange views and listen to their opinions and suggestions. Party Committee Member and Deputy Director Ye Xiaomin delivered a briefing on work progress, and First-Level Inspector Zhang Xiaokai chaired the meeting. Ten retired representatives from the Commission system, including Wang Xiaoguang and Jia Liqun, attended the meeting together with Commission leaders and shared advices for development. Staff from the Department for Retired Officials, the General Affairs Center, and relevant units were also present.

At the meeting, Ye Xiaomin briefed participants on the completion of major tasks in 2025, including active integration into the capital’s development in the new era, continued advancement of public interest–oriented reform of public hospitals, further improvements in access to medical services, progress in full life-cycle health services with a focus on the elderly and children, and accelerated development of information systems and artificial intelligence applications. He also outlined key work priorities for 2026, such as addressing development challenges, responding to public expectations, strengthening innovation-driven growth, and consolidating the foundations for high-quality development. In addition, he reviewed work related to retired officials within the Commission system, highlighting steady progress in exemplary Party branch development, recognition through municipal-level excellence awards, and the effective integration of retired experts’ contributions with efforts to strengthen primary-level healthcare, making contributions to the development of Beijing’s heath industry.
The meeting atmosphere was warm and engaging. Retired officials expressed great pride and encouragement at the notable achievements in the city’s health sector, noting that these accomplishments reflect the collective dedication and hard work of health professionals and are both hard-won and inspiring. Many shared their continued involvement in grassroots healthcare services, industry development, and the mentoring of young professionals. Their original aspiration and enthusiasm inspired everyone present.Participants spoke openly and offered valuable suggestions on chronic disease prevention and control, public health education, and the preservation and transmission of academic expertise. All expressed their continued support for the Commission’s health work and their willingness to contribute experience and wisdom to the high-quality development of the capital’s health sector.
Zhong Dongbo expressed his gratitude for the high recognition from the senior comrades, noting that this affirmation has greatly boosted everyone’s motivation, and that the suggestions offered are highly inspiring and helpful for advancing the work. He said that the cause of health and wellness is the result of the unremitting efforts of generation after generation, and that today’s achievements are imbued with the dedication, hard work, and sacrifices of the senior comrades. Even after retirement, the senior comrades have remained true to their original aspirations and undiminished in enthusiasm, playing an important role in areas such as support and cooperation, community services, free medical consultations, and mentoring, thereby providing strong support for the development of the health and wellness sector. He extended his heartfelt thanks and highest respect to them. He pointed out that the Fourth Plenary Session of the 20th CPC Central Committee has set out plans to accelerate the building of a Healthy China and promote high-quality population development. As health and wellness work enters a new stage of development, he expressed the hope that senior comrades will continue to leverage their strengths and contribute their expertise in professional services, industry governance, the promotion of professional ethics, policy consultation and advice, as well as supervision and guidance. He emphasized that caring for and supporting senior comrades is an unshirkable responsibility, and that relevant departments must make every effort to provide strong service support, helping senior comrades continue to learn, stay engaged, and enjoy fulfilling lives in their later years, so as to enhance both their quality of life and sense of well-being.
