In recent years, the Beijing Municipal Health Commission has focused on enhancing the professional skills and competencies of occupational health technical personnel. By establishing clear training standards, innovating learning platforms, strengthening law-enforcement supervision, and relying on the nation’s only national-level talent training base dedicated to occupational disease prevention, Beijing has built a comprehensive talent development system that integrates theoretical instruction, practical training, and regulatory support. This system aims to cultivate a highly specialized workforce with solid expertise, sophisticated technical skills, and strong professional discipline, providing robust talent support for building a “Healthy Beijing.”

At the finals of the 2025 National Occupational Health Skills Competition, which concluded on November 13, the Beijing delegation delivered an impressive performance. The team secured two individual first prizes—earning nationwide first and second places—and won second prize in the team category.

This year’s competition centered on four core events, covering Radiological Health Monitoring and Assessment, Engineering Prevention and Control of Occupational Hazards, Occupational Hygiene Monitoring and Assessment, and Occupational Health Examinations and Occupational Disease Diagnosis. It is the highest-level, most wide-reaching, and most competitive professional skills competition in the national occupational health field.

The Beijing delegation achieved remarkable results across the board. Feng Zechen from the Beijing Center for Disease Prevention and Control won first place nationwide in Radiological Health Monitoring and Assessment, earning a first prize and being recommended as a candidate for the national May 1st Labor Medal.Wang Luyang from the Beijing Occupational Disease Prevention and Treatment Institute placed second nationwide in Engineering Prevention and Control of Occupational Hazards, also earning a first prize. Ren Yingdi from the Haidian District Center for Disease Control and Prevention, and Wang Yiran from Beijing Chaoyang Hospital affiliated with Capital Medical University, performed excellently in Occupational Hygiene Monitoring and Assessment and in Occupational Health Examinations and Occupational Disease Diagnosis, respectively, receiving merit awards.

Behind these outstanding achievements lies systematic preparation and meticulous cultivation. Over the past six months, the municipal and district health commissions, together with the Federation of Trade Unions, have closely aligned with national occupational disease prevention policies and embraced the philosophy of “learning through competition, training through competition, and improving performance through competition.” They carefully organized multi-level selection rounds across the city. More than 400 occupational health professionals actively participated. Through rigorous stages—including theoretical examinations, practical tests, and team quizzes—99 competitors advanced to the municipal semifinals, and ultimately four finalists were selected to represent Beijing in the national finals, where they delivered exceptional results.

Going forward, the Beijing Municipal Health Commission will take this competition as an opportunity to further improve long-term mechanisms that use competition to strengthen development and promote excellence. The Commission will continue advancing the construction of a high-caliber occupational health workforce, enhancing professional competencies and service capabilities, safeguarding workers’ health rights, and contributing to Beijing’s efforts to take the lead in achieving socialist modernization.
