Recently, the “Disaster Prevention and Mitigation and Emergency Health Challenge” online quiz, organized by the Beijing Municipal Health Commission as part of the 2025 Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Publicity Week, concluded successfully.

May 12 marks the 17th National Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Day, with the week of May 12–18 designated as the annual publicity week. This year’s campaign aimed to enhance public awareness of emergency preparedness and to promote knowledge related to disaster prevention, mitigation, and health emergency response. Aligned with the national theme “Everyone Should Know Safety, Everyone Should Be Prepared for Emergency—Identify Hidden Risks Around You,” the activity covered a broad range of topics, including natural disasters, public health incidents, fire safety, and emergency rescue.

According to statistics, a total of 58,942 individuals participated in the online quiz, including government officials, employees of public institutions and enterprises, students, and retirees. The average score was 79.6. Among them, 48,347 participants (82.0%) scored above 70, and 11,851 participants (20.1%) achieved full marks. These results indicate that most participants have acquired a solid foundation in disaster prevention and mitigation, though there remains room for improvement in applying such knowledge to specific emergency scenarios.

The Beijing Municipal Health Commission will continue to strengthen education and outreach on disaster prevention and mitigation, further innovate the formats and content of public campaigns, raise public awareness, and enhance citizens’ self-rescue and mutual aid capabilities. Efforts will also continue to improve the emergency response capacity of health system personnel across the city, ensuring the health and safety of the public.
