To fully implement the guiding principles of the 20th CPC National Congress and the Second and Third Plenary Sessions of the 20th CPC Central Committee, and to comprehensively advance the high-quality development of the ideological and cultural work for health promotion in the capital, the Beijing Municipal Health Commission convened the 2025 Beijing Municipal Conference on Ideological and Cultural Work for Health Promotion on March 28. Wang Jianhui, member of the Party Leadership Group, Deputy Director, and Spokesperson of the Municipal Health Commission, attended the meeting and delivered a speech.
The meeting highlighted that in 2024, Beijing's ideological and cultural work on health promotion upheld Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, firmly implemented the decisions and deployments of the CPC Central Committee and the Beijing Municipal Party Committee and Government and served the overall development of the capital's health undertakings with full dedication. Notable progress and achieved fresh results were achieved across various fronts.
It was emphasized that 2025 marks the final year of the 14th Five-Year Plan and a crucial year to lay a solid foundation for a good start to the 15th Five-Year Plan. In the face of new circumstances and new tasks, the health sector must thoroughly implement the Party’s health and wellness policies in the new era. Centering on the development of the capital and the health of its people, efforts should focus on deepening the construction of a Healthy Beijing. It is essential to continuously enhance mainstream health values, public opinion and culture, providing strong ideological assurance, spiritual support, and favorable cultural conditions for the high-quality advancement of the capital’s health undertakings.
The meeting outlined four key focus areas for Beijing’s ideological and cultural work on health promotion in 2025: 1. Upholding the guiding banner to build a socialist ideology with strong cohesion and leadership. 2. Strengthening unity to consolidate and expand mainstream thought and public opinion that supports the capital’s development in the new era. 3. Adhering to integrity and innovation to carry forward noble professional spirit and the unique culture of the health sector. 4. Reinforcing the foundation to build a dedicated and competent team for ideological and cultural work on health promotion in the capital.
During the meeting, a summary video on Beijing’s 2024 ideological and cultural work on health promotion was screened. Representatives from Tongzhou District Health Commission, Beijing Hospital, Beijing Anzhen Hospital affiliated with Capital Medical University, and the Beijing Emergency Center shared experiences from their respective organizations on ideological and cultural work on health promotion. Over 180 attendees participated in the conference, including representatives from the Beijing Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Beijing Center for Disease Control and Prevention, Beijing Hospitals Authority, health commissions of each district, the Social Affairs Bureau of the Economic-Technological Development Area, tertiary hospitals, persons in charge of ideological and cultural work on health promotion and relevant department heads from directly affiliated institutions, and heads of the Commission’s administrative offices.
