New Year Begins with Friendship and a Shared Future Passed Down through Generations — Beijing Municipal Health Commission Holds Briefing and Symposium for Retired Cadres

On the morning of January 7, 2025, the Municipal Health Commission held a briefing and symposium for retired cadres. Party Secretary Zhong Dongbo met with the retired cadres and listened to their opinions and suggestions. Ye Xiaomin, a member of the Party Committee and Deputy Director of the Municipal Health Commission, presented a report, while Wang Xiaoe, a first-level inspector of the Commission, presided over the meeting. Former leaders and comrades of the Commission, including Wang Xiaoguang, Zhang Jianshu, Xiao Xun, and Zhao Xinsheng, as well as Zhao Shuying, Secretary of the First Retired Party Branch of Beijing Youan Hospital, Zhang Ping, former Secretary of the Party Committee of the Municipal Blood Center, Wu Liqun, a senior expert from Beijing Shijitan Hospital, and Xiang Hong, a senior expert from Beijing Friendship Hospital, joined the meeting. Together with the Commission leaders, they celebrated the New Year and discussed the development of healthcare system in Beijing. Staff from the Retired Cadres Department, and Comprehensive Affairs Center of the Commission, and related units also attended the event.

At the meeting, Ye Xiaomin provided an overview of the main achievements of 2024 in six key areas: continuously improving the capacity of the "Four Services," launching new multi-dimensional initiatives to benefit the public, optimizing health services comprehensively, enhancing medical and technological innovation through joint efforts, deepening the Healthy Beijing initiative, and significantly improving health governance. Ye also outlined the key work priorities for 2025, emphasizing the principle of seeking progress while maintaining stability, strengthening reform and innovation, and promoting higher-level healthcare services to solidify the health foundation for Beijing to lead in achieving socialist modernization. Additionally, the Commission’s work related to retired cadres in the system achieved notable success, with the "National Advanced Collective for Retired Cadres" recognition and six new "Six Good" model party branches for retired cadres, ranking in the first batch. Grassroots medical and health support projects were also expanded, making significant contributions to the capital's healthcare efforts.

During the meeting, Commission leaders and retired cadres warmly congratulated the First Party Branch of Beijing Youan Hospital on being recognized as a "National Advanced Collective for Retired Cadres." Wang Xiaoe noted that the Party Committee of the Commission places great importance on the well-being of retired cadres, always keeping their concerns in mind and addressing them effectively. She highlighted that the recognition achieved over the past five years, from "National Advanced Collective on Retired Cadres Work" to "National Advanced Collective for Retired Cadres", reflects the dedication and responsibility of the retired cadres. The Commission will continue to provide heartfelt and attentive services while promoting the integration of optimistic aging and healthy aging into all aspects of their work.

The discussion session was lively and enthusiastic. Retired cadres expressed their joy at the rapid development of healthcare in the city and praised the spirit of healthcare workers for their dedication and resilience. They also expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Commission leaders and staff for their care and support. Retired cadres shared valuable experiences from their involvement in grassroots medical service projects, tobacco control initiatives, and teaching, showcasing their enduring contributions as "silver-haired" talents. They provided candid feedback and offered earnest expectations for the future. Despite their retirement, they unanimously reaffirmed their commitment to supporting the healthcare sector and contributing to its growth.

Zhong Dongbo expressed gratitude for the retired cadres' recognition and carefully noted their suggestions. He acknowledged the wisdom and hard work of generations of retired cadres in advancing healthcare with high quality. The fruitful achievements in the work of retired cadres are a testament to the dedication and contributions of the retired comrades. Even after retirement, they have actively participated in healthcare initiatives, fully demonstrating the admirable spirit of remaining productivity in their later years. He emphasized the Commission's commitment to addressing the health needs of the public, strengthening medical innovation from the supply side, and enhancing health governance continuously, with the guidance of the municipal party committee and the municipal government. He highlighted the successful hosting of the 2024 World Conference on Traditional Medicine, the stabilization of the "three-medical" coordination mechanism, and the efficient implementation of disease control system reforms, which played a fundamental and overall role in supporting healthcare development. Zhong also assured the retired cadres that their candid and valuable suggestions would be carefully studied and incorporated into the Commission’s work, especially in areas such as ideological guidance, health education, and professional support. He encouraged the retired cadres to continue their involvement and lend their expertise to advancing the city's healthcare sector. Finally, on behalf of the Party Committee of the Commission, Zhong Dongbo extended warm wishes to the retired cadres, wishing them good health, happiness, and prosperity.
