On October 26 and 27, the National Health Commission held a special meeting on production safety by video and telephone to inform the government’s decision on the investigation and handling of the “4.18” major fire accident at Beijing Fengtai Changfeng Hospital, and deployed the problem rectification and safety production work of the entire commission system. Lei Haichao, deputy secretary of the Party Leadership Group and deputy director of the National Health Commission, attended the meeting and delivered a speech.

It was pointed out at the meeting that production safety in the health field is related to red-line safety. The whole commission and the whole system must study and implement General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important exposition on production safety thoroughly, improve their political position, and regard the implementation of production safety responsibilities as a concrete manifestation of supporting the “two establishments” and achieving the “two maintenances”. We must persist in drawing inferences from one example, strengthen problem orientation, deeply learn the painful lessons of accidents, and resolutely prevent the major production accidents.

It was emphasized at the meeting that it is necessary to promote the transformation of the safety production work model of the health industry to pre-emptive prevention with a sense of responsibility that "always be alerted". It is necessary to tighten and consolidate the responsibility for production safety, establish and improve a multi-department coordination mechanism, effectively eliminate blind spots in production safety supervision, do a good job in safety production work in autumn and winter, strengthen the investigation and rectification of hidden dangers, and resolutely protect the lives, health and safety of the people.
