On October 24, the Basic Business Training Conference for Medical Social Workers in Beijing was held. More than 170 people attended the conference, including the responsible heads of the Public Rights and Interests Protection Division of the Municipal Health Commission, the heads of the relevant medical and social work departments of the district health commissions and the Social Affairs Bureau of Economic and Technological Development Zone, the heads of the medical and social work departments of each tertiary hospital and relevant directly affiliated units, and front-line medical social workers.

The training focused on topics such as the development of medical social work in the new era, role positioning of medical social work, social assistance policies, construction and practice of medical social work departments, general work cases of medical social workers, group and community work methods, and methods of supervision and evaluation of medical social work. Experts and senior medical social workers in the practical field from the Beijing Civil Affairs Bureau, Tsinghua University, the Medical Social Work Professional Committee of the Beijing Hospital Association, and medical and health institutions at all levels were invited to give lectures.

It was pointed out at the meeting that the development of health care in the new era is facing new situations and new tasks. The limitations of medical technology and the diversified needs of the people provide opportunities and challenges for the development of medical social workers. It was emphasized at the meeting that it is necessary to overcome the "four kinds of thinking", namely pessimism, conformity, individualism and self-motivated thinking, and achieve "three grasps", including the opportunities, the key points, the subject, to accelerate the development of medical social work in this city, to achieve full coverage of medical social workers as soon as possible, and to assist the high-quality development of health services in the capital.

The training is part of the hierarchical and classified training system for medical social workers in Beijing. It is a general training focused on newly hired and transferred medical social workers. We will also organize middle-level and high-level training in conjunction with resident projects, diversified training projects and supervision. We will strive to create a comprehensive medical social work talent team that meets health needs.
