Congratulations to Professor Wang Ningli on being elected President-elect of the World Glaucoma Association and winning the Outstanding Founders Award

At the 10th World Glaucoma Congress (WGC) in Rome, Italy, Professor Wang Ningli, a Chinese scholar, was elected as the President-elect of the World Glaucoma Association (WGA) and won the Founders Award.

As one of the co-founders of the association, Professor Wang Ningli has served as a member of the Executive Committee since the founding of WGA. Professor Ningli Wang has made outstanding contributions to the development and growth of WGA and the international academic development of glaucoma.
Professor Wang Ningli has published 302 papers in the field of glaucoma in the past ten years, ranking first in the world. Among the above top 10 scholars in the world, his weighted impact ranks first.
After winning the WGA Senior Clinician Scientist Award in 2011, Professor Wang Ningli was elected as the WGA's President-elect and received the WGA's Founders Award. He is reported to be the first Chinese scholar to receive this award.

About the World Glaucoma Congress
The World Glaucoma Congress (WGC) is organized by the WGA. At each WGC, the WGA recognizes outstanding individuals who have made significant contributions to the development of the WGA. WGA awards include the Laureate Award, the Founders Award and the Speicial Recognition Award. The Founders Award is given to outstanding scholars who have worked to advance the goals of the WGA and whose efforts have contributed significantly to the achievement of the WGA's vision.

Professor Wang Ningli
Wang Ningli is a member of the first batch of non-academicians of the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences, former chairman of the Chinese Ophthalmology Branch, and the current president of the Ophthalmology Branch of the Chinese Medical Doctor Association. He is a member of the International Academy of Ophthalmology, former president of the Asia-Pacific Society of Ophthalmology, and a co-founder of the World Glaucoma Federation. He has been named the world's 100 most influential ophthalmologists by the British "Ophthalmologist" magazine for five times, ranked fourth in the academic influence in the Asia-Pacific region, and has been selected as Elsevier's list of "China's Highly Cited Scholars" for nine consecutive years.
As the first corresponding author, he published 312 SCI papers, and 411 Chinese papers, and his papers were cited for 11711 times, with the H-index of 61. There are 36 papers cited in 102 policy documents. He has published 30 papers in the main or sub issues of Nature, JAMA, and Lancet (as corresponding authors of 9 papers). He is the first inventor authorizing 32 patents and 10 patents have been transformed. He is the chief editor of 8 editions of national textbooks. He presided over the formulation of 6 guides, 21 consensuses, and 1 standard. He has won 2 second prizes of National Science and Technology Progress Award as the first completer, 5 first prizes of provincial and ministerial level, Ho Leung Ho Lee Science and Technology Award, Guanghua Engineering Science and Technology Award, etc.
