June 14 is the 20th World Blood Donor Day. The slogan of this year's World Blood Donor Day in China is "Donate Blood, Share Life".

The Municipal Health Commission, together with the Communist Youth League of the Municipal Party Committee, the Municipal Red Cross Society and other units, carried out the publicity activities of the World Blood Donor Day, calling on Party members and cadres, young people and volunteers to actively participate in volunteer blood donation and jointly practice social responsibility.

The Municipal Health Commission, the Communist Youth League of Municipal Party Committee and the Municipal Red Cross Society went to the Municipal Blood Center for research. They learned in detail about the emergency safeguard measures for clinical blood use in the capital, had conversations with blood donors and volunteers at the blood collection site, and sent gifts and certificates of thanks.

The three units jointly held the unpaid blood donation publicity activity (Beijing Branch) of the National Health Commission for World Blood Donor Day 2023. At the event, Mr. Gao Jian, a parent of a child with neuroblastoma and co-founder of the "Protecting Spring Buds" activity, told his heartwarming story of his transformation from a blood user to a blood donor and then to a blood donation organizer. Nearly 20 enterprises and medical institutions set up booths at the event to provide care and health services for blood donors and people present. More than 20 young students from Tsinghua University participated in blood donation on site and issued a free blood donation initiative to the youth and the general public in Beijing.

In addition, the Youth League Committee of the Municipal Health Commission has also organized more than 60 young volunteers from 30 medical and health institutions to carry out unpaid blood donation volunteer services in 16 blood donation points in Beijing, spreading the concept of unpaid blood donation with professional strength, popularizing the knowledge of unpaid blood donation, and providing enthusiastic, thoughtful and scientific volunteer services.
