Date:08/05/2019

Liu Haiying, a male with Han nationality, born in February 1964, is a chief physician, professor, doctoral tutor, who is currently the director of the Department of Spinal Surgery of Peking University People's Hospital, the chairman of the Beijing Haiying Spine Health Foundation, and the chairman of the Professional Committee for Prevention and Treatment of Spinal Diseases of the Chinese Preventive Medicine Association.

The benevolence of a doctor means supporting the patient's spine with his.
Because of the high-intensive work all the year round and the same standing posture around the operating table maintained for a long time every day, Liu Haiying is also a patient with cervical and lumbar vertebrae diseases, and suffers from cardiovascular occlusion and abdominal aortic occlusion. He has gone through four major surgeries. Until now, he still needs to wear a neck brace and a waist brace, and eat six kinds of medicine to support the work of standing for more than ten hours a day.

Liu Haiying led a team to provide professional training for orthopedist at primary level in Anyang, Henan.

The mission of establishing the department is to minimize complications.
Spinal surgery, as a high-tech and high-risk surgery, is prone to cause neurological complications. In the past 34 years, Liu Haiying has completed more than 10,000 cases of spinal surgery, and there were few complications occurred.

Doctors and patients cooperate out of love, building a public welfare fund jointly.
In the outpatient clinic, some patients of Liu Haiying have spinal deformities, which have caused visceral failure or paralysis. They were full of hope when coming to the doctor, but they did not come back because of poverty.
In November 2011, the Beijing Haiying Spine Health Foundation was formally established. It is the first charity organization in China specially supporting the fund of spine-related diseases. It is also the first charity foundation in Beijing established by doctors and patients jointly.

I will do my best to save more people.
From the day of the found of the foundation, it is destined to be an organization of “people’s collective strength”. This is the only foundation in China that focuses on spine health. The start-up funds are all from Liu Haiying and the donation from the patients of his team or their family.
In the past eight years, the medical experts and volunteers of the foundation have spent their vacation time visiting 43 poverty-stricken counties and cities in the poverty-stricken areas of the central and western regions of China, with a journey of more than 100,000 kilometers, and established 15 national rescue centers for spinal diseases throughout the country. They have conducted free clinics and screenings for more than 5,000 patients in remote and poor areas.
Due to the clear accounts of the foundation and the transparency of its basic management, project management and other aspects, it has also been rated as a good score of 100 points by the FTI (Transparency Index) of the authoritative website China Foundation Center. Moreover, because all the charity activities such as free clinics and surgery are the result of the team members sacrificing their own vacation time, this kind of "love and kindness" has also gained recognition of the society.
In the second year of operation, the foundation was awarded a national social service demonstration project by the civil affairs department. In the third year, it was assessed as a 4A-level social organization, and was awarded the title of “Social Advanced Organization” by the Beijing Municipal Civil Affairs Bureau. The foundation also won the first “China Public Welfare Action Award”, the first “Capital Charity Award”, and the 7th “Best Charity Volunteer groups” and other awards.

Due to the severe altitude sickness, Liu Haiying can only carry out free clinics for patients while taking oxygen in Luolong, Changdu, Tibet.

Liu Haiying has won the "First China Public Welfare Action Award" and the "2016 Best Doctor of China". He was also a nominee for the "2017 Model of Beijing " list of for the year. He has awarded the "Top Ten Public Welfare Figures" of China Health Public Star of 2017, "2015-2017 Advanced Individual of Beijing Society Organizational System”, "Model for Filial Piety of Beijing ", " Good Doctor of China ", " Good Doctor of China - Medical Morality Award", "2018 People's Good Doctors of the Year", "2018 People's Health Promoter" and other honors.
