2. Health Tips
At present, Beijing is in the summer vacation and major flood season, when increased travel and gatherings may raise the risk of transmission of respiratory, gastrointestinal and vector-borne infectious diseases. Members of the public are advised to take the following precautions: First, pay attention to food and drinking water safety. Do not drink untreated water or consume spoiled, contaminated, floodwater-exposed, or food from unknown sources. Keep raw and cooked foods separate, and use separate cutting boards and knives whenever possible to prevent cross-contamination. Second, take effective measures to prevent mosquito bites. Promptly remove standing water from flowerpot trays, discarded containers and other places to eliminate mosquito breeding sites. When engaging in outdoor activities, wear light-colored long-sleeved shirts and long trousers, and apply insect repellent properly to exposed skin. Avoid staying for extended periods in grassy areas, bushes or near bodies of water. Third, maintain good hygiene habits. Wash your hands frequently, ventilate indoor spaces regularly, and practice good cough etiquette. Maintain a balanced diet, get adequate sleep, engage in moderate physical activity, and strengthen your overall resistance to illness. Fourth, monitor your health closely. During travel and after returning home, pay close attention to your own health and that of your family members. If you develop symptoms such as fever, cough, sore throat, vomiting or diarrhea, reduce participation in group activities and seek medical attention promptly.
