1. Case Report

In August 2024 (from 0:00 on August 1 to 24:00 on August 31), a total of 47,373 cases of 20 notifiable infectious diseases and 18 deaths were reported in Beijing. The reported diseases are mainly Viral Hepatitis, Dysentery, Tuberculosis, Pertussis, Syphilis, COVID-19, Influenza, Other Infectious Diarrhea, and Hand, Foot and Mouth Disease, etc.

2. Health tips

At present, the transmission risk of respiratory and intestinal infectious diseases is still high in the transition period of summer and autumn. It is necessary to remain vigilant. Here are some health tips for citizens. First, it is necessary to pay attention to personal protection, pay attention to coughing etiquette, wash hands frequently, do not share towels, washbasins, handkerchiefs and other items, and avoid touching your eyes, mouth and nose with unwashed hands. Second, it is necessary to pay attention to food and water safety. It is recommended to eat thoroughly cooked food, drink clean and hygienic water, avoid eating raw, cold and unclean food, or drinking raw water, avoid picking or eating wild mushrooms, and choose qualified restaurants when dining out. Third, it is recommended to keep the environment clean and comfortable. Public environments such as homes, schools and childcare institutions should be ventilated appropriately by opening windows depending on the weather conditions. It is recommended to ventilate 2-3 times a day, 30 minutes each time. Fourth, it is recommended to develop good living habits, keep a balanced diet, have a regular work and rest schedule, exercise moderately, and add or remove clothes in time according to the temperature during outdoor activities to avoid catching a cold. Fifth, childcare institutions and schools should implement morning and afternoon inspections, health education, environmental cleaning and disinfection and other measures after the start of a semester. Relevant collective units should implement cleaning, ventilation and health monitoring, and guide the staff or students to avoid going to work or school with illness.
