I. Epidemic overview

During the 23rdweek of 2023, there were a total of 16,969 cases of 14 kinds of legal infectious diseases reported, and 5 cases died in Beijing. The top five diseases with a large number of cases are COVID-19, Other Infectious Diarrhea, Influenza, Tuberculosis, and Syphilis, accounting for 97.9% of the total number of cases of legal infectious diseases.

II. Health tips for key epidemic situation

The number of reported cases of legal infectious diseases in Beijing this week has decreased compared with last week, and respiratory infectious diseases are the main reported diseases, the cases of which accounted for 94.4% of the reported number.

Hand, Foot and Mouth Disease is a common infectious disease in children caused by a variety of enterovirus infections. The common patients are usually infants and young children of 5 years old and below. Maintaining good hygiene habits is an important means to prevent such infection. First, it is necessary to wash hands before eating, after using the toilet, or after handling vomit or changing diapers. Second, it is not recommended to share towels or personal belongings with others. The third is to frequently clean and disinfect the surfaces of frequently touched items, such as furniture, toys, etc. Fourth, EV71 vaccine could effectively prevent Hand, Foot and Mouth disease and other related diseases caused by EV-A71 infection.
