I. General Situation of Epidemics
During the 8th week of 2011 (from February 21, 2011 to February 27, 2011), 1115 cases of legal notifiable disease with 6 cases of death (2 of hepatitis B, and 2 of AH1N1) were reported in Beijing, 3.62% up comparing with that of last week. There were 12 kinds, 721 cases of class B infectious diseases reported, and the top three epidemics were respectively tuberculosis, infectious diarrhea and hpatitis B according to the number of cases reported. The number of class B infectious diseases cases increased 1.69% than that of last week and 23.04% comparing with the same period of last year. There were 6 kinds, 394 cases of class C infectious diseases reported, and the top three epidemics were respectively infectious diarrhea, epidemic parotitis and hand-foot-and-mouth disease according to the number of cases reported. The number of class C infectious diseases cases reduced 14.16% comparing with the same period of last year.
II. Major Epidemics
(1) Measles
15 cases were reported in this week, 8 cases more than that of last week and 18 cases less comparing with that of the same period of last year.
As of the 8th week of 2011, a total of 20 cases had been reported in Beijing, 154 cases less comparing with that of the same period of last year.
(2) A H1N1 Influenza
8 cases were reported in this week, 15 cases less than that of last week.
As of the 8th week of 2011, a total of 261 cases had been reported in Beijing, 2.76% up comparing with that of the same period of last year; a total of 7 cases of death had been reported, less 3 cases than the same period of last year.
(3) Scarlatina
A total of 19 cases were reported in this week, 9 cases less comparing with that of last week. Among the patients, kindergarten children held a larger majority.
(4) Chicken Pox
A total of 355 cases were reported in this week, 3.53% less than that of last week. Among the patients, students, leader staff and scattered-living children held the majority.
Ⅲ. Important Notes
The NPC and CPPCCare going to be held in Beijing. The municipal health and disease control departments at all levels should seriously carry out prevention and control of infectious diseases, strengthen actively the surveillance and reporting of infectious diseases to ensure that the NPC and CPPCCcan be carried out smoothly.
Currently, the city has entered the high season of measles, meningitis, scarlet fever and other respiratory diseases. All levels of health departments should pay close attention to the epidemic prevention and control of the dynamic epidemic, strengthen the epidemic disease surveillance and prevention and control efforts for schools, preschools and the floating population, and actively carry out various forms of health education work of prevention and treatment of infectious diseases to enhance the self-awareness of disease prevention of the public and prevent the outbreak of respiratory tract infections.
