Medical emergencies can occur without warning, and knowing how to respond appropriately can make all the difference. In the early hours of a recent morning, the Beijing 120 Fengtai Emergency Center's Xijunanjie Ambulance Station received a dispatch call regarding a middle-aged or elderly resident who had suddenly developed chest tightness and weakness in all four limbs at home. Recognizing the urgency of the situation, the emergency team rushed to the scene and, through professional treatment, successfully gained valuable time for the patient's recovery and helped save the patient's life.

Upon receiving the dispatch order, the ambulance crew immediately set out with emergency medical equipment. During the journey, physician Jia Zhihui remained in constant contact with the patient's family by phone and patiently instructed them on proper first-aid measures. He advised them to keep the patient lying flat, avoid moving the patient unnecessarily, open windows for ventilation, and refrain from giving water or medication without medical guidance, as improper actions could worsen the condition.

After arriving at the scene, emergency personnel immediately began monitoring the patient's vital signs. Drawing on their extensive clinical experience, they quickly identified the condition as an acute cardiovascular or cerebrovascular emergency and promptly initiated standardized emergency treatment procedures. Once the patient's condition became relatively stable, the emergency team carefully and efficiently transferred the patient onto the ambulance and prepared for transport to the hospital for further specialized treatment.

During transportation, the ambulance crew continuously monitored the patient's condition and carried out precise emergency interventions to ensure the patient's safety. Thanks to the timely treatment provided by the emergency personnel, the patient ultimately received prompt medical care and successfully recovered from the immediate danger.

This race against time not only demonstrated the dedication and professionalism of emergency medical workers but also highlighted the importance of public knowledge of basic first aid and self-rescue skills. Beijing 120 reminds the public: Every life matters. Learning basic first-aid and self-help skills is not only a responsibility to yourself but also a way to protect others. By actively studying first-aid knowledge and mastering emergency response techniques, people can remain calm, respond scientifically in critical situations, and work together with emergency professionals to build a stronger safeguard for life and health.
