In the early hours of May 18, Beijing experienced heavy rainfall, causing slippery roads and poor visibility. During the night, the Ding Yuanyuan ambulance team from the Western Emergency Center Station of the Beijing Emergency Medical Center received an urgent rescue mission: an elderly person had accidentally fallen from a height and was seriously injured, requiring immediate medical treatment. Upon receiving the dispatch order, the team quickly set out for the scene.
Due to the continuing rain, the rescue environment was extremely challenging. Muddy and slippery ground conditions created significant difficulties for on-site treatment and patient transport. After arriving, the medical staff immediately conducted a physical examination and assessment of the patient. The patient was conscious but had multiple abrasions and swelling caused by the fall, and a fracture of the right upper limb was suspected. Faced with the complex injuries, Doctor Ding Yuanyuan and Nurse Wang Chaoyang worked in close coordination to quickly immobilize the suspected fracture area while continuously monitoring the patient’s vital signs to prevent secondary injuries during transportation.
After completing on-site treatment, the emergency team carefully transferred the patient into the ambulance through coordinated teamwork. Considering the severe weather conditions, driver Zhao Rui quickly planned the safest and fastest route to transport the patient to the hospital for further treatment as quickly as possible. During transportation, emergency personnel continued to observe the patient closely to ensure stable vital signs. Upon arrival at the hospital, the ambulance team seamlessly handed over the patient’s condition to the receiving medical department, gaining valuable time for subsequent treatment.
This emergency rescue operation on a rainy night fully demonstrated Beijing 120’s rapid response, professional treatment capabilities, and efficient patient transport. It fully demonstrates the outstanding professional competence and strong sense of responsibility of the pre-hospital emergency response team in the capital. Regardless of storms or harsh weather conditions, emergency personnel remain dedicated to their duties and race against time to protect the lives and health of the public through their actions.
Beijing 120 Reminder
During rainy weather, please pay extra attention to preventing slips and falls. Walk slowly and carefully, avoid puddles, mossy surfaces, and gaps between floor tiles. Wear non-slip shoes, avoid running or making sudden turns, and hold handrails firmly when using stairs, as steps may become slippery when wet.
