Recently, the Langfa Emergency Station of the Daxing Sub-center under Beijing 120 received an urgent dispatch: a traffic accident had occurred at an intersection involving a motor vehicle and an electric bicycle, leaving a delivery rider injured and in need of immediate assistance. The ambulance team quickly set out with emergency equipment. En route, physician Zheng Yongjun promptly contacted the scene to assess the patient’s level of consciousness and limb movement, and instructed bystanders not to move the injured person to avoid secondary injuries.

Upon arrival, witnesses reported that the rider had been traveling from west to east and lost balance while attempting to avoid a white car making a right turn, falling heavily onto the cold asphalt. His phone had slipped out of his pocket, with the screen still displaying delivery orders. Emergency personnel immediately conducted an initial assessment. Dr. Zheng carefully moved aside the patient’s hair while stabilizing the head and checking consciousness. Nurse Qiu Qiang quickly assessed breathing and pulse, assisted with a cervical examination, and applied a cervical collar for protection. Dr. Zheng then removed the patient’s outerwear to evaluate the chest, abdomen, pelvis, and limbs for injuries. Their gloves were soon marked with dust and blood, and throughout the process, they gently called the patient’s name. The assessment showed that the patient was conscious, with minor abrasions on the limbs and a head injury. The team promptly administered first aid, including bleeding control and bandaging, before safely transferring the patient onto the ambulance and transporting him to a nearby hospital. Upon arrival at the emergency department, Dr. Zheng quickly handed over the case to hospital staff, and the patient received further treatment.

Road safety is paramount. No matter how urgent the situation, all road users must strictly follow traffic regulations—do not run red lights, drive against traffic, or rush through intersections. Slow down when approaching crossings. Excessive speed or lack of attention can make it difficult to respond to sudden situations, increasing the risk of accidents. In the event of a traffic injury, call 120 immediately while ensuring your own safety. Do not move the injured person unnecessarily, as this may cause further harm.

Delivery riders bring convenience to our daily lives, working tirelessly in all weather conditions and deserving of our understanding and respect. Likewise, every rapid response by emergency personnel represents a steadfast commitment to protecting life.
