Recently, the Xiji Emergency Station of Beijing 120 Tongzhou Branch received a dispatch order from the command center: a traffic accident had occurred on a highway, the patient’s condition was unknown, and emergency assistance was required. Upon receiving the order, the team set out immediately. On the way, Dr. Hu contacted people at the scene to inquire about the patient’s condition. Due to the chaotic environment and the caller’s emotional distress, Dr. Hu was only able to learn that the patient was trapped inside the driver’s cabin. He instructed them to immediately contact the fire department (119) for rescue operations. Meanwhile, the nurse prepared the trauma kit and other emergency equipment, while the driver, Mr. Fan, relied on his skilled driving and extensive experience to quickly reach the scene.
Upon arrival, Dr. Hu carried out an initial assessment: the patient was conscious with stable vital signs, but his right lower limb was trapped in the cabin and a femoral fracture was highly suspected. While reassuring the patient, the emergency team cooperated with firefighters during the extrication, closely monitoring the patient’s condition to minimize pain and prevent further injury.
Thanks to joint efforts, the patient was quickly lifted onto the ambulance. The emergency team immediately performed hemostatic bandaging and splint immobilization. Considering the severe vehicle deformation and the possibility of intra-abdominal bleeding, Dr. Hu conducted a full-body examination and initiated ECG and blood pressure monitoring. The patient was then transported to the nearest hospital. Upon arrival, the team swiftly handed the patient over to hospital staff for further treatment in the emergency department.
