Recently, the emergency team led by Sun Jianli from the Yanqing Subcenter of Beijing 120 Emergency Center received a dispatch: a male patient had a lower limb injury with profuse bleeding and was in urgent need of medical attention. Upon receiving the call, the team departed immediately. While en route, Dr. Sun Jianli contacted the patient at once and provided self-aid instructions. Meanwhile, nurse Wang Zhuo was instructed to prepare cotton pads, bandages, and other emergency equipment for on-site treatment.
Upon arrival, the medical team swiftly brought emergency supplies to the patient, while the stretcher operator prepared the transport equipment. The patient, found alone in the driver’s seat of a truck, had no family present. His left thigh was bleeding heavily, and the seat was covered in blood. Due to the confined space, the team quickly transferred him onto the stretcher. Dr. Sun and Nurse Wang immediately began hemorrhage control and wound dressing, ensuring the bleeding was completely stopped. After a thorough examination, they promptly moved the patient into the ambulance for hospital transfer. During transport, the medical team provided continuous monitoring and oxygen support. Dr. Sun also conducted a detailed inquiry into the patient’s medical history again. At this point, the patient's condition had stabilized.
Thanks to Driver Yang’s skilled driving, the ambulance reached the hospital emergency department in under five minutes. Upon arrival, Dr. Sun carefully handed over the patient’s condition to the receiving physician. Noticing that the patient's family had not yet arrived, the emergency team went further to assist the patient with registration and payment, providing humanitarian support.
The Beijing 120 emergency teams remain committed to the principle that “time means life.” No matter the time or place, they are always at the forefront, using their actions to fulfill the mission and responsibility of medical professionals.
