On the early morning of June 1, 2025, the Beijing 120 Emergency Dispatch and Command Center received a sudden call for help: a 91-year-old woman had fallen at home, experiencing severe pain in her thigh and hip, rendering her unable to move. Emergency medical services were urgently required. Upon receiving the dispatch, Dr. Wang Kexin’s team from the Dongcheng Emergency Station of the Beijing Emergency Medical Center immediately responded, bringing along professional emergency equipment. En route, Dr. Wang contacted the patient’s family to gather details about her condition, offer first-aid instructions, and provide emotional support.
Upon arrival, the crew found the patient lying in wastewater, her face contorted in pain. Dr. Wang performed a physical examination and made a preliminary judgment that the patient might have suffered a fracture. Immediate on-site emergency care was initiated to alleviate her pain as quickly as possible.
The emergency team carefully lifted the patient onto a stretcher and securely immobilized her. At the same time, they assisted the patient's 90-year-old relative in tidying up household clutter to clear a safe passage for moving the stretcher. They also helped pack the essentials needed for hospitalization. After leaving the patient’s residence, Dr. Wang promptly contacted other family members to inform them of the situation and advised them to proceed directly to the hospital. He also emphasized the importance of arranging proper care for the elderly family member remaining at home.
Upon arrival at the hospital, the crew handed over the patient’s condition to hospital staff and continued to assist the patient—who had limited mobility—with registration, triage, and necessary medical examinations. Only when the family arrived did the emergency team feel assured enough to leave.
On June 6, the emergency team received a message from the patient’s family expressing their gratitude. They reported that the patient had undergone surgery successfully and was recovering well, attributing this positive outcome to the team’s timely intervention, which showcased the professionalism and compassionate care of Beijing 120. As a gesture of appreciation, the family visited the emergency station in person and presented the team with a silk banner inscribed with: “Exceptional Medical Skills Turned Crisis into Safety — Noble Medical Ethics Reflect a Compassionate Heart.” This heartfelt tribute celebrated Dr. Wang Kexin’s team for their exemplary service.
