On January 24, 2025, the Huilongguan Emergency Station of Jingkai Emergency Subcenter received a banner of gratitude from a patient and her family, inscribed with the words "Physician with Boundless Love, Diligent and Responsible Emergency Angels" in recognition of the responsible assistance provided by Dr. Jiao Huijie and her team of the 120 Emergency Center in a critical rescue operation.
The event occurred on November 17, 2024, at 3:55 AM, when a middle-aged woman called 120, reporting a severe headache. On the call, the patient could barely articulate the name of her residential community and was unable to provide any further address details. Faced with this emergency, the 120 dispatch center quickly deployed Dr. Jiao Huijie's team from the Jingkai District Emergency Subcenter to locate and rescue the patient.
Upon receiving the assignment, the rescue crew swiftly headed toward the location. During the drive, Dr. Jiao and the team tried to contact the patient to gather more information about the condition and the location. When the call was answered, the patient weakly said, "Headache... hurry..." Despite repeated attempts to calm her down and inquire about her location, the patient’s responses were unclear and fragmented, making it impossible for the team to determine her exact location.
Once the team arrived at the patient's residential community, the phone calls went unanswered, and they could not locate her specific address. Relying on her experience, Dr. Jiao judged that the patient’s condition was life-threatening. He immediately contacted the 120 dispatch center and coordinated with the police (110) to assist in locating the patient.
With the help of multiple forces, the emergency team finally located the patient. By that time, the patient had shown urine incontinence and was in a coma with snoring-like breathing. Dr. Jiao quickly examined her, noting her blood pressure was dangerously high at 200mmHg, and her pupils were unequal in size. Nurse Liu Haizheng measured her blood sugar and ECG, initiated oxygen therapy, and connected the heart monitor. An intravenous line was rapidly established. The team worked together to move the patient onto the stretcher and immediately opened a green channel to transport her to the hospital for further treatment. By this time, the patient’s family had arrived at the hospital and expressed their deep gratitude for the prompt and professional care provided by the rescue crew.
Afterward, the crew followed up and learned that due to their timely intervention, the patient had received effective treatment in time and was recovering well.
Recently, the patient and her family presented the banner to the team as a heartfelt token of appreciation, recognizing and encouraging the team’s dedication to emergency medical work. For the emergency responders, seeing the patient’s recovery is the greatest reward. The 120 team exemplifies the spirit of “saving lives with boundless love” with actual action, always tirelessly working to protect the people of Beijing, regardless of weather conditions or time of day.
