It was once happened in a pre-hospital emergency mission of the Beijing Emergency Center that a 1.9-meter-tall man rolled around in bed due to pain, and cried bitterly while lying in the ambulance holding the emergency doctor's knee? He was suffering from kidney stones.

Kidney stones are small stones that form in the kidneys. But why do "stones" grow in human body? This is because the salts and minerals normally present in the urine get accumulated and hardened for some reason, forming kidney stones. If these nasty "stones" are small and well positioned, they will be removed through urine automatically, but sometimes the big stones may get stuck in the path of excretion. The following symptoms may happen such as pain in the flank, lower back, or lower abdomen, blood in the urine i.e. pink or red urine, nausea or vomiting, bladder irritation symptoms (frequent urination, urgent urination, or dysuria). Men are more likely to form stones and recrudesce than women. People who are sedentary and always drink small amount of water, people who have a history of kidney stones in relatives, and people with metabolic abnormalities, such as hyperparathyroidism, gout, hyperuricemia, etc., may have higher amount of the components that are easy to form stones in the body. For people with urinary system diseases, inflammation, space-occupying lesions, congenital malformations, etc., it is difficult for them to expel the stones and the kidney stones are more likely to get stuck.

An easy way to prevent kidney stones is to drink plenty of water, avoid sitting for a long time, and exercise. Depending on the composition of the stone, you may also need to change the food types.
