The weather forecast have shown that there will be snowfall in Beijing recently.  The dispatching and command center of the Beijing Emergency Center becomes quite busy every time it snows. The dispatchers receive calls for help due to falls and road traffic accidents caused by snow and ice. There are many elderly and children among the injured. Most of the accidents happen in  locations such as residential communities, supermarket entrances and road intersections. The injuries are mostly limb fractures and traumatic bleeding. People should pay great attention to this kind of accidents.

Here are some tips from 120. It is recommended to avoid going out as much as possible during snowy or snow-melting days unless it is necessary, especially for the elderly and children. When going out, it is necessary to wear non-slip shoes and keep your hands out of your pockets for balance. While walking, it is suggested to lean forward slightly like you are skiing, and walk with your feet shoulder-width apart, for a large chassis and a is stable center of gravity. The walking stride should be small, because big steps may lead to fall. You should try to walk on snow and avoid places where many people have stepped on, which are easy to freeze and become slippery. Falling posture is also important. Correct fall posture can minimize injury. When you fall, you can roll over to remove the force and protect the vulnerable parts of your body. Don’t panic or get up rashly. Firstly, it is necessary to assess the injury to determine whether you are hurt. You can move your hands, feet, arms and legs slowly to see if there is pain and whether your activities are limited. If the pain is severe and the joints are deformed, you should stay there and keep the injured area fixed and warm. It is recommended to call 120 by yourself or others, and wait for professional doctors to deal with the injury on the spot.
