The most common illness in summer is cold, accompanied by symptoms such as low-grade fever, headache, sore throat, and runny nose. Summer cold is not influenza and is not contagious. Therefore, it is impossible to get infected of it from others. There must be reasons that you did not look after your health well. Here are some tips for summer cold.

Rest in bed: You might feel dizzy, inattentive, inefficient at work and study, and get tired easily when you have a summer cold. If you continue to work hard, the symptoms will not be eased. It is better to have a good rest. You can reduce your workload even if you could not rest in bed.

Lighter food: After a summer cold, your immune system might be weak. There will be a lot of waste in the body (including the destroyed virus) that needs to be eliminated, and the blood viscosity will increase. Oily food will reduce the body's efficiency in eliminating toxins. Therefore, you should mainly eat vegetables, and try to avoid overeating and drinking during the cold period. Another way to reduce blood viscosity is to drink plenty of water. Therefore, the first advice your doctor tells you after a common cold is to drink more water.

Sweat less: It is necessary to minimize your workload and sweat, because your body is weak during a cold and it is difficult to cope with changes in body temperature. Some people like to sweat by covering a blanket, believing that it helps to treat a cold. This makes sense, but it depends on the type of cold. Sweating could lower the surface temperature of the body and play a role in treating fever. However, there is a negative effect of this treatment. It consumes water and energy of the body.

Self-help medicine: For common colds, most people would like to buy some cold medicine such as Huoxiangzhengqi. If the symptoms does not be eased or are worsens after taking the medicine for three days, it is recommended to go to the hospital for treatment.
