The last Sunday of September every year is the World Heart Day.
The World Heart Day is one of the important movement which was initiated in 1999 by the World Heart Federation with the aim to arouse the people’s attention to cardiovascular diseases and hazard factors such as fatness, nutrient imbalance and smoking. The theme of the World Heart Day this year is “healthy family, harmonious society”. According to the statistic of the World Heart Federation, in the whole world, a third of every 3 dead men died from cardiovascular diseases. Over14, 000 people died from heart disease in Beijing in 2006, which takes 23% of the death toll, only less than the cerebrovascular disease, ranked No.2 in the death cause of the citizens in the whole city.
Who are among the high-risk population that is easy to suffer from the cardiovascular diseases?
Cardiovascular diseases are the life-style diseases to a certain extent. Thus, the people with unhealthy life style must be firstly the high-risk group, such as heavy smokers and those with irregular life styles, who are easy to have vasospasm and unsmooth blood flow and have the cardiovascular diseases early; the fat people and those with unscientific diet, who are overnutrition and have excessively high cholesterol in their blood, are easy to suffer from the atherogenic cardiovascular diseases. We can not neglect that: in China, the onset of heart disease is on the trend of young men and strong men between 40 to 50 years old are the on the highest risk. That is because the people between these ages play an important role in the work and families with heavy pressure in lives and intension in spirits, which are easy to lead the nerves imbalanced, the metabolism deranged, and cause the arteriosclerosis, thus result in the heart disease and suddenly die from it.
Many people turn pale at the mere mention of the sudden death of the heart disease. Our familiar Ma Ji and Hou Yaowen both died from the sudden acute myocardial infarction, and this kind of disease has symptoms.
The earliest symptom of the acute myocardial infarction is usually the pain of precordium and emits to the left shoulder, medial left arm and little finger, sometimes extend to the cervix, pharynx and mandible. But there are some patients who do not have typical pain symptoms. The beginning symptoms are dysphoria, face pallor, profuse sweating, dread or agonal sense, even loss of consciousness. Some have respiratory symptoms such as chest distress, dyspnea, cough, frothy sputum, etc., which are common in the old men and diabetic patients. Some have epigastric pain, nausea, and vomit, which are easily thought as the alimentary disease by mistake; and there are some patients that have tooth pain, which is examined as the oral disease by mistake. We should watch out these symptoms aforementioned.
First, we should have rational meals to prevent from the heart disease. It is necessary to increase the fiber diet, namely have more gross grains, beans, vegetables, and fruits etc, because fibers in food can reduce the cholesterol in the blood serum. We should try to reduce the intakes of fat and cholesterol such as the brain and bowels of animals, vitellus, and testacean, also the ingestion of the salt which will cause the hypertension by excessive intakes. Especially in Beijing, the excessive ingestion of salt has become a problem concerning health which shall not be neglected. Second, the healthy life style shall be developed. Except for abstaining from tobacco and wine, we should have a healthy and gentle mind, avoid insomnia by rage, never be excessively tired, anxious, depressed, or have irregular lifestyle. These factors may disorder the fat metabolism.
