Health Report has been with us for another year, and we are very grateful to you, our audience, for your concern and support. Therefore, on behalf of Beijing Municipal Health Bureau, I would like to extend to you our warmest greetings and wish you good health and all the happiness.
As an old saying goes, health is gold. Thus, Beijing Municipal Health Bureau, the government department for the management of public health, serves as a bridge between the government and the citizens through Health Report. And by reinforcing health management, popularizing scientific concepts of health as well as disease prevention knowledge, it aims at citizens enjoying a healthy life with conscious efforts and through preventive health care.
As for the coming year, we are committed to serve you, our friends, just as in the past, and we hope you would continue to support us and give us comments and suggestions, so as to make this program closer to your life, and closer to you.
Now, the Spring Festival is approaching, and the following is about how to prevent diseases during the festival.
During the festival time, we gather together with friends and relatives, for dinner and recreation, and usually various diseases may occur because of over-exertion, excessive emotion, overdrinking, etc. Or, acute attacks of the already existing chronic diseases, such as high blood pressure, coronary heart disease, cerebral thrombus, and myocardial infarction, may happen. In addition, irregular and unhealthy diet may result in acute gastroenteritis, acute pancreatitis, gastric perforation, food poisoning, etc. And for the children, in particular, their lack of self-control usually leads to acute gastrectasis, stomach overburden and dyspepsia.
With regard to this, three suggestions are provided: first, no engorgement, the children and the elderly, in particular, should choose light and digestible food; second, regular bedtime, sufficient sleep and adequate outdoor exercise should be guaranteed and excessive weariness avoided; third, food safety, when at family reunions or when dining outside, it is particularly important to insure food safety and prevent food borne diseases and food poisoning.
What’s more, during the icy winter in Beijing, temperatures varies widely, which makes it the peak season of respiratory infectious diseases, such as flu, measles, epidemic encephalitis and chicken pox. These infectious diseases are mainly carried in spindrifts in the air and infected through respiratory tract, and also, they can be infected by contacting contaminated articles. Therefore, during this festival time, attention must be paid to the prevention of respiratory infectious diseases. The elderly and infirm should avoid poorly ventilated or crowed public places. And in case of respiratory infection, please stay isolated and go to a doctor in time instead of visiting others, so as not to spread the disease.
If, during the festival period, you have any question about disease prevention, food safety and hospitalization, please feel free to dial ‘12320’, the commonweal telephone number, for consultation or complaint.
Wish you all a healthy, joyful and peaceful new year!
