Improper exercise may cause shoulder dislocation, which means that the surfaces of the joints lose their normal correspondence. Dislocation of joints may cause damages to soft tissues such as joint capsules, ligaments, articular cartilage and muscles. The area around the joint may get swollen as well.
There are some first-aid measures for joints dislocation. When you notice that your arm is dislocated, it is suggested not to fix your arm by yourself or it may cause wrong connection of joints. Because the symptoms of joint dislocation is very similar to those of fracture, the patient should not try to set the dislocation joint. Fracture treatment such as fixing the joint should be performed and the patient should be sent to the hospital as soon as possible for joint reduction.
If you find that your arm is dislocated and you cannot get any doctor for treatment, you can try to reset it by yourself for once. You need to relax the muscles first, use your knees to fix your arm, then use another hand to slowly rotate the arm and pull it back to its original position. When you hear a clicking sound from the joint and the pain disappears right away, your arm has been reset. It should be noted that it is best to go to the hospital for an examination after resetting to avoid hidden dangers. After the dislocated arm has been properly treated, the injured area should be cold applied, which can relieve the pain and swelling. After the cold compress for a day and a night, the treatment should be changed to hot compress (for about 24 hours) to promote the blood circulation of the wound.
