On the morning of November 8, 2024, Zhong Dongbo, Secretary of the Party Committee of the Beijing Municipal Health Commission, met with Professor Nenad Bogdanovic from Sweden's Karolinska Institute and his delegation. The meeting facilitated in-depth discussions on international cooperation in the health sector between Beijing and the Karolinska Institute, resulting in a broad consensus. Pan Suyan, First-Level Inspector of the Commission, and Zheng Jinpu, Second-Level Inspector, were also in attendance.
Secretary Zhong Dongbo welcomed the Swedish experts and emphasized the significance of collaboration between Beijing and internationally renowned medical research institutes in advancing scientific research and talent development. He highlighted that such partnerships are crucial for accelerating the establishment of an international exchange center and a hub for science and technology innovation, contributing to national diplomacy and the development of the capital's healthcare sector. Secretary Zhong hoped that this meeting would serve as a strong starting point for promoting comprehensive cooperation in areas such as high-level mutual visits, academic exchanges, talent training, scientific research, achievement transformation, and exploration of medical service models. He also called for efforts to enhance working mechanisms and foster a synergistic approach to collaboration.
Professor Nenad, Professor Zhu Jie, and other Swedish experts shared the latest research advancements of the Karolinska Institute in the fields of neurology and geriatrics, while also proposing ideas for collaboration.
Relevant leaders from the Administrative Office, Talent Department, Science and Education Department, and International Cooperation Department of the Commission, Beijing Municipal Medical and Health Science Promotion Center, Xuanwu Hospital, Beijing Friendship Hospital, and Beijing Tiantan Hospital were in attendance.
