The Flag-Presenting Ceremony for the First Batch of Resending Medical Aiding Team to Burkina Faso was Held

On May 26, 2018, China and Burkina Faso resumed diplomatic relations at the ambassadorial level. In accordance with the requirements of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the National Health Commission, the Beijing Municipal Commission of Health and Family Planning set up the first batch of Burkina Faso medical aiding teams sponsored by Beijing Shijitan Hospital. On July 5th, the medical team's flag-raising ceremony was held at Beijing Shijitan Hospital. Feng Yong, deputy director of the International Department of the National Health Commission, and Zheng Jinpu, deputy inspector of the Beijing Municipal Commission of Health and Family Planning, attended the ceremony.

At the ceremony, all medical team members solemnly vowed to carry forward the spirit of Chinese medical personnel who respect life, sacrifice, save the wounded, and love without boundary. They promised to keep in mind the trust of the motherland and accomplish the mission, and make contribution to improve the health of the people of the recipient countries and to enhance friendship of the people of China and the recipient country.

In his speech, Deputy Director Feng Yong expressed his respect to Beijing and Beijing Shijitan Hospital in overcoming difficulties in a short period of time and effectively forming a medical team. He also paid tribute to the dedication of the team members and their families. He hoped that the medical team will carry forward the spirit of pioneering and innovation and establish a national brand. Xu Jian, the president of Shijitan Hospital, introduced the establishment of the medical team, saying that the hospital was a strong backing of the medical team and will provide a full range of work and life security. In his speech, Deputy Inspector Zheng Jinpu made clear requirements for the medical team's work in the next six months.

From 1976 to 1993, the city sent nine medical teams to Burkina Faso, a total of 163 people, of which eight were sacrificed. The first batch of aiding medical team was composed of 10 members, 9 from Beijing Shijitan Hospital and 1 from Beijing Jishuitan Hospital. According to the urgent needs of Burkina Faso in the aid profession, our commission and the dispatched unit carefully carried out the top-level design and selected experts from key disciplines such as general surgery, urology, cardiovascular, anesthesiology and burns, and 6 of them had senior professional and technical titles. Before the trip, a training course for the medical team was held. On the early morning of July 7, the medical team will depart for Ouagadougou, the capital of Burkina Faso, to perform a six-month foreign aiding medical mission.
