The Commission and Beijing Customs Discussed on the Prevention and Control of Imported Infectious Diseases

In order to further strengthen the work mechanism for joint prevention and control, intensify cooperation in the prevention and control of imported communicable diseases and actively prepare for the public health protection of the 2022 Winter Olympics and Winter Paralympics, the Beijing Municipal Commission of Health and Family Planning and the Beijing Customs (former Entry-Exit Inspection and Quarantine Bureau) held a seminar on the prevention and control of imported infectious diseases on April 19, 2018.

The meeting was chaired by Liu Qinghua, Director of Disease Control Department of Beijing Municipal Commission of Health and Family Planning. The attendees agreed that the prevention and control of imported infectious diseases is closely linked to maintaining the public health security of the capital. It is concerned with maintaining the international image of the capital during the Winter Olympics, strengthening information sharing between departments, and promptly identifying and disposing of imported infectious diseases. It is important to form closed-loop management of the whole process imported infectious diseases.

It was emphasized at the meeting that the need to strengthen the mechanism of sharing monitoring information, further optimize the early quarantine, early identification, early disposal, and management service procedures for imported infectious diseases, to provide accurate information on infectious disease risks for entry and exit personnel and continuously improve the city's ability to respond to imported infectious diseases.

The meeting also conducted in-depth discussions on the details of related work on the prevention and control of imported communicable diseases. Relevant comrades from Disease Control Department of Municipal Commission of Health and Family Planning, Health and Quarantine Supervision Department of Beijing Customs, Beijing Center for Diseases Prevention and Control, Beijing Friendship Hospital, Beijing Youan Hospital and other institutions participated in the seminar.
