Beijing Association for Medical Education Convened the Sixth Session of the Representative Conference

On March 29th, the Beijing Association for Medical Education convened the sixth session of the representative conference. More than 200 representatives from medical schools and vocational colleges as well as medical units and private medical institutions from subordinates, municipalities, districts, communities in Beijing attended the conference.

At the conference, the "Fifth Council Work Report", the work report of the Board of Supervisors, the financial work report and the "Beijing Association of Medical Education Constitution (Revised Draft)" was reviewed and approved. The seven-member leadership organization including the sixth Council, the Standing Council, and President Chen Jie were elected.

The leaders of the National Health Commission, the Beijing Municipal Commission of Health and Family Planning and the Mass Organization Office of Beijing Municipal Bureau of Civil Affairs attended the meeting to congratulate and delivered important speeches.

The Beijing Association for Medical Education is a social organization approved by the Beijing Bureau of Civil Affairs to promote the progress and development of medical education in the capital. Since its establishment in 1999, the association has been striving to implement the functions of “serving the government, serving the society, serving the industry, and serving members”, adapting to the development needs of the Beijing health industry. It assisted the government in post-graduation medical education, continuing medical education management, and the assessment and management of projects such as research and development funds for medicine of the capital.

During the five-year term of the Fifth Board of Directors, the Beijing Association for Medical Education assisted the Municipal Commission of Health and Family Planning to set up the Beijing Municipal Committee of Resident Doctor Standardization Training and 19 expert committees for professional training. It participated in the drafting of training base regulation, guidance physician regulation, 22 professional training rules and base evaluation index systems. It developed training base management specifications and 26 guidelines for guidance physicians. The organization carried out two dynamic assessments covering 347 professional bases, assessed more than 27,000 resident physicians, and trained more than 18,000 teaching staff and management cadres.

The association also accepts the entrustment of the Beijing Municipal Administration of Hospitals to organize and carry out the pilot work of standardized training for new nurses. The survey showed that the comprehensive competence of trained nurses was higher than that of untrained nurses and the formers are more popular among hospitals and patients.

The Continuing Medical Education of the association undertook the daily management of the Beijing Continuing Medical Education Office. Adhere to the training of administrative cadres for continuing education every year, the office went to in-depth districts, counties and hospitals, and improved the managing and working abilities of administrative management. Many units have applied for continuing education projects. An average of more than 2,000 national and municipal continuing education projects have been permitted, ranking among the top in the country.

The association organized experts to prepare 5 training materials, produce 450 hours of study courseware, train more than 21,000 rural doctors, and organize more than 600 outstanding staff of district hospitals to Grade III hospitals for training. The association also organized experts to design and produce 112 modules and 396 hours of required courses for community nurses. More than 130,000 community nurses participated in the training.

The association assisted the government to revise the regulation for first special project and fund, formulate guidelines for project declaration. It continuously improved the information software management system, established an expert database of more than 5,000 experts in 32 disciplines, and organized experts to review more than 4,400 projects. The association also carried out more than 1,000 mid-term examinations and conclusion acceptances, as well as the review of the “Yangfan Plan” and clinical innovation projects of the Beijing Municipal Administration of Hospitals. After 2015, assisting the health and family planning commissions of Shunyi District, Changping District, and Tongzhou District, the association built the systems and platforms, and conducted scientific research project reviews.

Beijing Association for Medical Education successfully passed the international quality management system certification of China Quality Certification Center in 2014. In 2017, the association won the title of 5A social organization of the Beijing Association of Social Affairs.
