In the past ten years, Beijing has attached great importance to the development of traditional Chinese medicine. The comprehensive service capacity of traditional Chinese medicine has been continuously improved, and the social contribution of traditional Chinese medicine has been significantly enhanced. The cultural heritage has been promoted and developed, and the results of foreign exchanges have been fruitful. The work of traditional Chinese medicine has achieved leaping development.
1. The comprehensive service capability of traditional Chinese medicine continues to improve
First, the accessibility of traditional Chinese medicine services has been continuously improved. The second-level and above public TCM medical institutions in Beijing increased to 41, with 1.17 TCM beds and 1.004 TCM physicians per 1,000 permanent residents, exceeding the national average greatly. All three-level TCM medical institutions in the city have established rehabilitation departments, and all maternal and child health care institutions have established TCM clinical departments. Second, the ability of traditional Chinese medicine to prevent and treat diseases continues to increase. 32 national regional traditional Chinese medicine (specialty) diagnosis and treatment centers, 54 national key clinical specialties, 133 national key specialties of traditional Chinese medicine, and 13 pilot projects of clinical cooperation between Chinese and Western medicine for major and difficult diseases have been established in Beijing and the total number of institutions ranks first in China. There are 48 collaborative regional specialties, 37 municipal-level TCM specialty diagnosis and treatment centers, 287 key specialties, 16 1+X+N specialty network complexes, and 48 collaborative regional specialties. Third, high-quality traditional Chinese medicine resources have been promoted successfully to the grassroots level. 5 district-level TCM medical associations, 100 TCM health culture experience halls, and a normal mechanism for well-known TCM teams to provide grass-roots services actively were established. Mobile TCM services were adopted to solve the difficult problem of people in mountainous and semi-mountainous areas seeking medical treatment, and TCM support for targeted poverty alleviation was implemented.
2. The reform of the system and mechanism of traditional Chinese medicine continues to deepen
The construction of the legal system of traditional Chinese medicine has been comprehensively promoted, and the "Opinions of the Beijing Municipal People's Government on Supporting the Revitalization and Development of Traditional Chinese Medicine", "The Beijing Municipal Regulations on Traditional Chinese Medicine", and the "Implementation Plan of the Beijing Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China and the Municipal Government on Promoting the Inheritance, Innovation and Development of Traditional Chinese Medicine" have been issued successively.
3. The social contribution of traditional Chinese medicine has increased significantly
In the prevention and control of the COVID-19 epidemic, Beijing adhered to the integration of traditional Chinese and Western medicine, and improved the coordinated treatment mechanism of traditional Chinese and Western medicine, with a TCM-participated treatment rate of 90.78% and a total effectiveness rate of 87.46%. Beijing has sent more than 100 Chinese medicine experts to Wuhan and other hard-hit areas to participate in the fight against the epidemic, providing 2.3607 million TCM preventive prescription to key groups. A special scientific research project for the prevention and treatment of COVID-19 has been set up, and 8 TCM preparations for COVID-19 treatment have been approved. The "Beijing Tele-health Service" platform has been established, covering 198 countries and regions around the world.
4. The talent team of traditional Chinese medicine continues to grow
The construction of high-level TCM talent team was strengthened, with new talents covering 187 "famous TCM doctors in capital ", 100 capital famous TCM practitioners, 71 outstanding famous TCM practitioners, and 90 young and middle-aged TCM medicine practitioners, driving the cultivation of a group of high-level TCM talents, leading talents and key personnel. Three batches of training projects for backbone TCM talents and two batches of training projects for backbone TCM talents of nursing were launched in Beijing. Over the past ten years, a total of 22 famous research laboratories, 18 famous and senior TCM studios, 54 inheritance workstations, 67 grass-roots senior TCM doctor inheritance studios, 3 humanities academic and TCM culture inheritance studios and 116 sub-stations of senior TCM doctor inheritance studios of Beijing traditional Chinese medicine "3+3" project were established. Beijing started the selection of TCM skills inheritance studios firstly in the country, and a total of 17 TCM skills inheritance studios have been established. A group of district-level academic heirs have been trained, and the ability and level of regional TCM talents have been improved.
5. The inheritance and innovation of traditional Chinese medicine has been promoted steadily
By the end of 2021, 29 research institutes of integrated traditional Chinese and Western medicine have been established in the Beijing area. 40 "Beijing Grassroots TCM Discipline Team Bases" have been established in the district-level TCM medical institutions, consolidating the clinical research capabilities of grassroots TCM medical institutions. The Beijing Municipal Commission of Traditional Chinese Medicine Research Ethics was established to further standardize the ethical review of the TCM industry in Beijing. The establishment of a TCM innovation-driven demonstration park, and a public platform for the transformation of TCM achievements promoted the incubation of scientific and technological achievements.
6. The creative transformation power of traditional Chinese medicine culture has been effectively enhanced
The representative "Ditan Traditional Chinese Medicine Health Culture Festival", Shijingshan Xishan Traditional Chinese Medicine Culture Season, Tongzhou Traditional Chinese Medicine Culture Festival, Yanqing Traditional Chinese Medicine Culture Festival, Haidian District Campus Traditional Chinese Medicine Culture Festival and other emerging TCM cultural activities were carried out as regional characteristics, forming a cluster of large-scale theme activities of medical science popularization culture. Pilot activities such as the construction of Beijing TCM cultural literacy education base and the construction of demonstration bases for TCM culture popularization in campus, exploring a new form of promoting and disseminating TCM culture in an all-round way.
7. The new forms of traditional Chinese medicine services has been expanded rapidly
In the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, we explored and jointly built a TCM characteristic tourism service brand, and took the lead in launching 13 TCM health care tourism routes and 52 TCM cultural tourism bases. Large-scale events such as the Baicao Garden and the TCM Impression Hall at the Beijing World Horticultural Exposition were carried out. The integration of horticulture and medicinal plants perfectly interprets the charm of traditional Chinese medicine culture. An ecological industrial park with traditional Chinese medicine characteristics that integrates health-integration education, forest recuperation, and ecological conservation was created, promoting the protection and development of traditional Chinese medicine.

The Jianguomen Community Health Service Center in Dongcheng District, Beijing officially opened in June 2015.
