In order to further implement the "Notice on the Management of Children's Leukemia Treatment" (National Health and Medicine [2018] No. 16) and the National Video Conference on Children's Leukemia Treatment issued by the National Health Committee and other five ministries and commissions, On October 12, 2018, the Municipal Commission of Health and Family Planning held a video conference on the management of childhood leukemia in the city.

Responsible staff of the Municipal Commission of Health and Family Planning, the Municipal Development and Reform Commission, the Municipal Human Resources and Social Security Bureau, the Municipal Food and Drug Administration, and the relevant departments of the Municipal Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine, and experts from the Beijing Quality Control Center of Pediatric and Beijing Children's Hospital attended the meeting at the main venue. Sub-meeting venues were prepared in each district.

After the policy interpretation of the management of children leukemia treatment by the Municipal Commission of Health and Family Planning, the Municipal Development and Reform Commission, the responsible staff from the Municipal Human Resources and Social Security Bureau, and the Municipal Food and Drug Administration Bureau respectively carried out work deployment. Staff from the Primary Health Department, Public Rights Security Office, the Department of Medicine and Instrument, the Department of Science and Education of the Municipal Commission of Health and Family Planning, put forward the work requirements in combination with their respective duties and tasks. A representative of the Beijing Children's Hospital affiliated to the Capital Medical University gave a speech on behalf of the designated medical institutions for municipal leukemia diagnosis and treatment services.

Tu Zhitao, member of the Party Committee of the Beijing Municipal Commission of Health and Family Planning and Director of the Municipal Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine, conveyed the important instructions of the state on the management of childhood leukemia. It requires all districts and medical institutions to have a deep understanding of the significance of the management of childhood leukemia and to promote the treatment of the disease. First, we must strengthen organizational leadership and compact work responsibilities. Second, we must fill in the gap between supply and demand for medical services. Third, we must strengthen the organization and management of the child patients. Fourth, we must strengthen publicity and guidance. Fifth, we must work together to promote various supporting policies.

After the work meeting, experts from Beijing Quality Control Center of Pediatric trained the attendees on the “Diagnosis and Treatment Standard for Children's Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia and Children's Acute Promyelocytic Leukemia (2018 Edition)”.
