Epidemic Situation of This Week(2009,6,22–2009,6,28)

I. General Situation of the Epidemics
During the 25th week of 2009 (from 0:00, June 22 to 24:00, June 28), 4155 cases of 17 legal infectious diseases were reported in 18 districts and counties of Beijing, with 6 deaths confirmed (three cases of hepatitis B, one case of hepatitis C and two cases of tuberculosis). Among them, 11 categories of Type B Infectious Diseases amounting to 1341 cases were reported, 3.31% lower higher than last week and 3.53% lower than the same week last year. The top 5 five categories of diseases with the highest incidence rates were as follows: dysentery, tuberculosis, hepatitis B, syphilis and gonorrhea. Six categories of Type C Infectious Diseases amounting to 2814 cases were reported, 8.86% lower higher than last week and 13.51% lower higher than the same week last year.


This week, 1 one case of rabies was reported.


This week, 2814 cases out of the following 6 six categories of Type C infectious Infectious Ddiseases were reported: other infectious diarrheas, hand-foot-mouth disease, epidemic parotitis, acute hemorrhagic conjunctivitis, rubella and epidemic influenza. The number accounted for 67.73% of the total and was 13.51% higher than the same period of last year. Among them, the diseases with increased report case were acute hemorrhagic conjunctivitis, hand-foot-mouth disease, other infectious diarrheas and epidemic influenza; the diseases with decreased report case were rubella and epidemic parotitis.


II. Focus ofon the Epidemic
(1) A H1N1 Influenza
This week, 44 confirmed cases of A H1N1 Influenza were reported, an increase of 10 cases over the previous week. Of these, 27 were foreign personnel.
As of the 25th weeks, the city has reported 125 cases of A H1N1 Influenza. Of these, 82 are foreign personnel, accounting for 65.60% of the total number of reported cases; all age stages have cases, in which the patients in the age group from 6-24 are 80 cases, accounting for 64.00% of the total number of reported cases. There ishas not death case.


(2) Dysentery
week, 695 cases were reported throughout the city, up 8.93% from last week and down 11.69% from the same period of last year. Among them, the top five regions and counties with the highest incidence rates were Chaoyang, Fengtai, Haidian, Changping and Tongzhou, accounting for 57.55% of the total cases; all age stages had cases and the patients were mainly scattered-living children, cadres, students, houseworkershousehold service staff, unemployed people and retirement staff.
As of this week, the city has reported 8536 8356 cases of dysentery, decrease by 21.23% from the same period last year.

(3) Chicken Pox
A total of 350 cases were reported this week, down by 15.66% than last week and up by 15.51% than the same period of last year respectively. The top 5 five regions reporting the most incidence rates were Chaoyang, Fengtai, Haidian, Changping and Daxing, accounting for 68.86% of the total reported cases. Those infected were mainly students and preschool children, accounting for 76.86% of the total.


(4) Hand-foot-mouth Disease
This week, 1067 cases were reported, up 11.03% from last week and down up 19.48% from the same period of last year. The top 5 five regions reporting the most incidence rates were Chaoyang, Fengtai, Haidian, Tongzhou and Daxing, accounting for 64.39% of the total reported cases. Those infected ones were mainly scattered-living children and preschool children, accounting for 94.28% of the total.
As of this week, the city has reported 12879 cases of hand-foot-mouth disease with 2 two death cases. The city’s cumulative reported cases from May 2 to June 28, 2009 decrease by 17.06% from the same period last year.


III. Precautions
At present, A H1N1 Influenza epidemic situation is similar with the national characteristics of the epidemic, namely, reported cases number increases quickly, most of them are reported imported cases, patients are mainly young adults, and there is no obvious pathogenic mutation. In tThe next stage, all health departments should implement the prevention and control requirements of the Ministry of Health, exercise joint prevention and control mechanism against A H1N1 Influenza and focus on "reducing the second-generation cases and preventing communities spread, strengthening treatment of severe diseases, and responding to the changes of epidemic", strengthen the prevention and control in schools, communities, airports, and inspection and quarantine places, enhance disease surveillance and treatment of severe cases, and use prevention and control resources in scientific and rational manner so as to fulfill all the tasks preparation.


 This week, the city's infectious diseases epidemics are in general stable, but dysentery, other infectious diarrhea diseases and hand-foot-mouth disease were slightly increased over last week. As the temperature continues to rise, the intestinal infectious diseases incidence may continue to show a significant upward trend. Health departments at all levels should do a good job in prevention and control of A H1N1 Influenza while it is also necessary to strengthen the prevention and control of hand-foot-mouth disease and other intestinal infectious diseases so as to prevent outbreaks epidemics.
