Weekly First-aid Topic: Preventing diarrhea caused by rotavirus in autumn

  Rotavirus is one of the main pathogens that cause diarrhea in infants and  young children. It mainly damages the epithelial cells of the small intestine,  causing diarrhea. Rotavirus is prevalent in autumn and winter every year. The  infection route is the fecal-oral route and the clinical manifestations are  acute gastroenteritis and osmotic diarrhea. The course of the disease is  generally 7 days, including 3 days of fever, 2-3 days of vomiting, and 5 days of  diarrhea. Severe patients may have symptom of dehydration.

  Rotavirus enteritis is easy to cause cross-infect. Therefore, it is  necessary to prevent the disease from entering the mouth".

  1. Pay attention to feeding hygiene

  Do not feed unclean or spoiled food to the baby. It is necessary to prevent  contamination in the preservation of dairy products. Milk utensils, eating  utensils, toilets, toys and equipment must be disinfected regularly.

  2. Pay attention to personal hygiene

  Nursing people and infants should wash hands before preparing milk, before  meals, and after using the toilet. It is necessary to take off your outer  clothes when coming back home before closely contacting the children.

  3. Do not take your baby to public places

  Try not to take your baby to amusement parks and other public places in the  high season for virus to reduce the chance of infection.

  4. Vaccination against rotavirus

  Parents can take their children to the local disease control agency for  rotavirus vaccination, which can effectively prevent children from being  infected with rotavirus.
