Most of the fish bones are stuck in the base of the tongue, tonsils, and  epiglottis. If it is not removed in time, it will cause infection of the  piercing part and lead to local abscess. The paries posterior of the pharynx is  connected to the loose tissue deep in the neck, which can easily lead to the  spread of infection and form large abscesses deep in the neck. These abscesses  may compress the trachea and cause deadly suffocation. The fishbone in a shallow  place can be seen with a flashlight. You can use tweezers to take it out or ask  for help from others. You can also try to cough and use the airflow to flush the  fishbone out. If it is still stuck, it is necessary to go to hospital. If the  fishbone is stuck in the esophagus, the doctor can take it out with an  esophagoscope or gastroscope at the early stage of shallow penetration. If you  swallow rice balls, the fishbone will penetrate deeper, and some will directly  pierce the aorta. It is because the esophagus and aorta are stuck together  almost all the way. Fishbone piercing the aorta is just like using a sewing  needle to pierce a balloon. The bleeding of the aorta is worse than a balloon  burst. If the fishbone only penetrate a part of the wall of the aorta, it will  cause infection without treatment and lead to an abscess after it is taken out.  Therefore, you should keep the following points in mind to avoid this situation.  1. Don’t drink or chat when eating fish. You should concentrate and take small  bites. 2. If you feel a fishbone stuck in your throat, swallowing rice balls or  drinking a lot of vinegar could only make it worse. 3. You can press the tongue  with a spoon and remove the fishbone with tweezers or fingers if it is stuck in  the throat. 4. If the fishbone cannot be removed or if you feel uncomfortable,  you should seek medical treatment in time without delay.
