Expectant mothers need to go through a long period of ten months from  pregnancy to childbirth. During these ten months, due to season alternation,  cold usually happens by accident. Pregnant mothers may be worried that medicine  will cause fetal malformation, and struggling with the problem of whether take  medicine with cold symptoms. Could pregnant mothers take medicine for a cold?  When is it necessary to take medicine? In fact, the common cold is generally a  self-limiting disease. If the symptoms are relatively mild, or you only have  nasal congestion, cough, sputum, etc., will not adversely affect the fetus, you  will not need to take medicine. The cold can heal itself. During mild colds,  pregnant mothers need to have more rest, drink more water, and keep their diet  light. Usually, you can recover on your own within 5-7 days. Under normal  circumstances, the use of antipyretics is not required if the body temperature  is below 38.5°C. It can be cooled by physical means such as exposing limbs,  wiping and bathing with warm water, cold towel wet compress, etc. At the same  time, it is necessary to drink a lot of warm water to promote metabolism and  help the body temperature to slowly fall. When the temperature of the pregnant  mother exceeds 38.5°C, the physical cooling effect is not obvious, or the fever  causes obvious discomfort, antipyretics can be used. However, the following  precautions need to be kept in mind. 1. Do not take more than 4 times a day, the  time interval is 6-8 hours, or at least 4 hours. 2. It is best to take drugs  with the same mechanism of action, only if there is persistent high feve,  nausea, vomiting, etc., you can take another mechanism of antipyretics at  intervals of more than 4-6 hours. 3. Antipyretics should not be taken for more  than 3 days. When the temperature of the pregnant mother exceeds 39 ℃-39.5 ℃,  the risk of fetus teratogenesis may happen. At this time, you should seek  medical treatment in time and weigh the pros and cons for treatment. Pregnant  mothers with high fever lasting more than 3 days should have a B-ultrasound  examination after the illness to see if high fever has any effect on the fetus.  Pregnant mothers are a special group. Under normal circumstances, it is not  recommended to take medicine by themselves. It is suggested to go to the  hospital and follow the doctor's instructions.
